About Us

The Sewing Room and Workshop is excited to be doing business in Mt. Carroll Illinois and the surrounding areas! For over 35 years, Michelle has been honing the skills needed to bring you quality custom upholstery services ranging from general home furnishings to historic furniture collections of museums throughout the Midwest. Beginning her training in the family business at Meadowdale Upholstery in Carpentersville, Illinois, Michelle learned the trade from seasoned craftsmen and applied those skills for 20 years before expanding into the field of furniture conservation for another 10 years. Now, Michelle's Husband Ken has joined the team with offering hand woven chair caning. We have a few samples here at the shop to show how nice his work is!

Newly established in March 2021, The Sewing Room and Workshop is offering more! Not only is custom upholstery available, but with Michelle’s love of quilting and fabric in general, fine quilting fabrics and notions are available for your quilting projects! With modest beginnings, we started our fabric collection with Kona Solids quilting cottons and several seasonal prints by Robert Kauffman Fabrics. As time passes we have more collections, notions, threads and patterns so you can create your fabric masterpiece. we are continually building our inventory to meet your needs! We always welcome requests for products you want, please let us know what you want to find at The Sewing Room and Workshop!
